EC defers Kanubari bypoll

ITANAGAR, May 14: The Election Commission in an order under section 150, 30 and 56 of the Representation of People Act, 1951 has deferred the by-election to 58-Kanubari (ST) Assembly Constituency.

Further, the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct in relation to the bye-election would remain in abeyance until further direction of Election Commission, informed Chief Electoral Officer.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Supreme Court few days back passed stay order on the resignation matter of MLAs Gabriel D. Wangsu and Wanglam Sawin thus dismissing the probability of the bye-election. The by-poll was scheduled to be held on May 16.

Tony Pertin, the advocate for the petitioners, had written to Chief Election Commissioner to withdraw the notification issued for 58 Kanubari by-election keeping in mind the order passed by the SC.

The Kanubari and Khonsa East Assembly Constituencies fell vacant after MLAs Gabriel Wangsu and Wanglam Sawin have resigned.

Their resignation was accepted by previous speaker Nabam Rebia in a controversial circumstance. Both Gabriel and Sawin alleged that they were made to resign under duress and had written to Governor seeking his intervention. They took the matter to court and have been fighting a lengthy court battle.

Earlier, in February this year, Supreme Court had upheld a Gauhati High Court judgment dismissing the plea of Sawin and Gabriel, who had challenged the Speaker’s decision to accept their resignation.

Abbot of Tawang Monastery resigns

ITANAGAR, May 14: Guru Tulku Rimpoche, the abbot of Tawang Monastery has said that he has sent his resignation to the office of the Dalai Lama following “recent turns of events” in Tawang.

The Rimpoche said this at TGL Monastery, Bomdila.

He disclosed that he was so deeply hurt and shocked by the recent happening that he had submitted his resignation to His Holiness the Dalai Lama for acceptance since he solely wishes to dedicate his time for peace, prayers and education of Buddhism and be fully devoted to the people of Mon region.

Guru Tulku Rimpoche further informed that he was deeply perturbed and in a sorrowful state of mind because of the recent disturbance in Tawang which went against the philosophy of Buddhism.

Meanwhile, Guru Tulku Rimpoche has conducted a prayer for peace at the TGL Monastery, Bomdila. The prayer is being held in the backdrop of the Tawang firing incident.

Speaking to the DIPRO, the Rimpoche informed that the prayer was being held for peace of the departed souls, early healing of those injured and for tranquility in the entire region.

Further, the holy month of Saka-Dawa is also being observed across the region. The prayers would continue throughout the period. (DIPRO)

CM grants relief to Pasighat fire victims, promises fire tenders

PASIGHAT, May 14: Chief Minister, Kalikho Pul on Saturday visited Pasighat and met the fire victims, who have lost their properties in a devastating fire, that broke out at Pasighat market on May 11 midnight. The devastating fire burnt down 36 shops and 8 residential houses.

Chief Minister Pul has expressed concern over unabated fire in the oldest town and ordered the District Magistrate to institute proper inquiry into the fire mishaps and ascertain the causes behind it. He has granted Rs 30 lakh as relief and instructed East Siang Deputy Commissioner, Isha Khosla to distribute the amount among the victims. He also assured to grant more aid to the victims under Chief Minister’s relief fund.

Addressing the local business communities at Pasighat market on Saturday, Pul suggested the shop-keepers and house owners to set fire extinguisher in every room or buildings in the township to avert fire mishap. He has directed Pasighat urban body (PMC) for construction of overhead water tank in market to ensure water supply during such mishaps.

He also asked the land lords to adopt safety measures during construction of the buildings meant for commercial purpose in the township.

Responding to a memorandum submitted by ‘Pasighat Bazar Welfare Association’, the chief minister assured to boost the existing strength of fire brigade at Pasighat by facilitating additional fire tenders and manpower in the department.

Pasighat East MLA, Kaling Moyong in his address requested the chief minister to initiate effective measure to prevent re-occurrence of such fire accidents in the oldest town. He also appreciated the CM for sanction of Rs 9 crore for construction of stadium at Pasighat.

Chief Minister Pul was accompanied by East Arunachal MP Ninong Ering, Geku-Mariyang MLA Olom Panyang and a host of Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries and state government officials besides BJP leaders.

Abducted businessman rescued; CM praise rescue efforts

ITANAGAR, May 14: One Rohtash Sharma of Goju Tea Garden under Bordumsa police station, who was abducted at gun-point by two motorcycle borne unidentified persons on May 10 at around 8.20 pm, was rescued on the night of May 12-13 from the jungle near Old Champu by security forces.

Since the family requested not to alert the media fearing harm to the abducted person, the matter was kept most confidential, while the search and rescue continued.

Immediately after getting the information, the government activated its police machinery and started acting on the information received.

Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, Deputy Chief Minister (Home) Kameng Dolo, Parliamentary Secretary Home Pakgna Bage, aided by the Chief Secretary, DG and IG were constantly monitoring the situation while the search operations were going on.

In addition to its own forces, the Govt. also mobilized the 7th Madras Regiment, the Assam Rifles and also the CRPF and the IRBN. All exit routes were sealed and sources engaged to gather information on the probable location of the trio. All the police stations in the area, including those at Mahadevpur, Kharsang, Miao and Diyun and also in neighboring Assam were alerted.

DIG (E) Apur Bitin and SP Changlang Amit Sharma after visiting the place of abduction led the investigation on the ground.

While the combing operations continued on 11 and 12 May, a breakthrough was made on the basis of sustained questioning, taking the confidence of the local public and engaging various sources.

On receipt of the new specific information, the security personnel launched a massive operation in Old Champu area and rescued Sharma from the jungle near Old Champu, where the abductors had left him and fled.

Meanwhile Chief Minister Pul has highly praised the quick response and the efforts put in by Apur Bitin, DIG (E) Namsai, Amit Sharma, SP Changlang, SDPO Miao John Pada, Col. Rajesh Grover of the 13 Assam Rifles, Major Aditya Vikram Singh of the 7 Madras Regiment, Major Jitesh Kumar Singh and Asst Commandant Rakesh Choudhury, assisted by Inspectors Nessar Ahmed, Bhanwari Lal and AL Yadav of the CRPF.

Pul also praised civil police officers SIs Umeshan C, Ajay Kumar, PK Kalita, R Borang, P Nath, T Wangpan, Rajesh Chetry, BB Gohain, N Tao, G Das and ASIs SN Singh, S Tayu N Lowang, L Bolok along with constables P Jugli and KD Monpa as well as over 400 security and police forces who were involved in the operation. The Chief Minister also appreciated the role of the public in quickly sharing information with the security forces.

“Maintaining law and order and policing can be made more effective when the public are made partners in the process”, he said.

Sharma was taken to PHC Kharsang for medical check up and later re-united with his family members.

Sites inspected for college, polytechnic in Tawang

ITANAGAR, May 14: A team of officers from Directorate of Higher and Technical Education and RUSA (Rashtriya Ucchchattar Shiksha Abhiyaan) inspected sites for establishment of a Government College and a Polytechnic in Tawang recently.

While interacting with the people at Tawang, Director, Higher & Technical Education Dr. Tejum Padu appealed to the people to extend full cooperation in the establishment of the educational intitutions. Parliamentary Secretary (Education) Tsering Tashi accompanied the team.

Earlier, Dr. Padu and his team inspected the academic block, hostels and querters of the Govt. Polytechnic at Dirang.

Interecting with the Principal of the Polytechnic, the team advised for best utilisation of the limited assets created so far. Dr. Padu also instructed the students to be sincere and dedicated in their study. He assured to extend all possible help from the Directorate for growth and development of the polytechnic.

In Govt. College, Bomdila, the team inspected all the buildings that have been constructed in the new college campus.

While interacting with the executing agency, the Director of Higher & Technical Education requested it to maintain quality in the construction of academic block. The team also inspected the IT items procured from RUSA fund in the old campus of the college.

It was a routine inspection and monitoring of various ongoing construction activities in the colleges and ploytechnics as well as to study the feasibility for establishment of a College and a Polytechnic in Tawang district.

Othe members of the team were Deputy Director of Higher & Technical Education A Jongkey and Deputy State Project Director, RUSA Minto Ete. The tour was conducted from May 9 to 13.

Arunachal media condemns killing of scribes

ITANAGAR, May 14: The media fraternity in Arunachal Pradesh has strongly condemned the killing of two journalists, one in Bihar and the other in Jharkhand.

According to reports, senior reporter of a Hindi daily- 'Hindustan', Rajdev Ranjan, was killed in Bihar's Siwan district on Friday evening by unknown assailants near the railway station. The journalist was shot from close range in the head and the neck.

On Thursday night, another newsman Indradev Yadav was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Chatra. According to reports, the assailants, who were on motorcycles, fired five rounds of bullets killing the journalist on the spot.

The scribes in the state under the aegis of Arunachal Press Club (APC), Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist (APUWJ) and Arunachal Electronic Media Association (AEMA) while condemning the incidents in strongest terms, urged the authorities to award stringent punishment to the persons involved in the crime to set an example for such incidents not to reoccur in future.

Scribes across the country are subjected to all kinds of abuse, yet the states and centre have failed miserably in coming up with appropriate measures for the safety and security of the journalists.

Meanwhile, Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA), an Assam-based organization of media persons also expressed shock over the murder of two scribes in separate incidents in central India and urged the authorities to punish the culprits under the law.

The JFA reiterated its old demand for a special protection law for the working journalists across the country and called upon the Union government to formulate a national action plan as soon as possible to safeguard the brave-hearts who pursue critical journalism.

The forum also appealed to the media fraternity of the country to get united in the process of delivering justice to the victim families with distinctive punishment to each & every single perpetrator.

India as a whole lost three scribes to assailants till date this year as the first incident reported from Uttar Pradesh. Tarun Mishra, 32, who used to work for a Hindi daily (Jan Sandesh Times), was shot dead on 13 February at Gosaiganj locality in Sultanpur district.

WASE seeks Govt.’s help to fight drugs menace

PASIGHAT, May 14: To further strengthen its fight against drug abuse, illegal sale of IMFL, child abuse and human trafficking in East Siang and its peripheral areas, a team of Women Against Social Evils (WASE) on Saturday met Chief Minister Kalikho Pul and submitted a memorandum seeking state government’s help in fighting against the social evils.

The WASE team led by its President Omem Ering urged the Chief Minister to provide adequate vehicle at Pasighat and Mebo Police Stations and Sille-Oyan Police Out Post for patrolling purposes.

According to WASE team, the police stations at Pasighat, Mebo and Sille were without sufficient vehicles, which handicapped the police in effectively dealing with criminals and anti-social elements.

The NGO also appealed to the CM to provide more fire tenders at Pasighat, which has so far witnessed several devastating fire incidents this year.

More importantly, the WASE team urged the CM to talk to his Assam counterpart for cooperation of Assam police in tackling the inter-state drugs peddling.

According to WASE, there are mane drug peddlers in Assam’s Jonai and Dibrugarh, who are regularly supplying drugs to Arunachal Pradesh. But there has not been any cooperation from Assam Police to check those drug peddlers. While responding positively to the demands and taking serious note of the situation, the CM directed the East Siang SP to place the demands/requirements so that the state government can provide the required vehicles, the WASE informed.

Rita Rajkhowa visits Mother’s Home

ITANAGAR, May 14: Chairperson of Muskan Welfare Society Rita Rajkhowa exhorted Tailyang Shanti, who heads the Mother’s Home at Lekhi village, Nirjuli and her team of volunteers to continue with their benevolent services to society.

Rajkhowa accompanied by members of Muskan Welfare Society on Saturday visited the Mother’s Home —a shelter for destitute — and interacted with the inmates of the Old Age and Destitute Children Home. She also visited the dormitories and took firsthand account of the Home in her maiden visit to centre.

There are 11 physically and mentally challenged inmates in the Mother’ Home, who are from Tirap, Kurung Kumey, West Siang and East Siang districts. There are also some other inmates in the shelter house, whose details are not known, Shanti informed the visiting team.

Established in 2012, the Home is run totally on public contribution. Sadly, the APL (Above Poverty Line) rice provided to has been discontinued, she rued.

At present, two psychiatrists Dr. Tame Kena from RK Mission Hospital and Dr. Hanya Payee of Tomo Riba Memorial State Hospital visit the inmates regularly. The Home is extremely grateful to Rama Krishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar and the Department of Health, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh for providing free treatment to the inmates and financial assistance respectively, she added.

Shanti, who also runs the Mother’s Home at Ziro under the aegis of Achukuru Welfare Society, Ziro, said that with little assistance from the State Government, she and her team can take care of all the destitute of the Itanagar Capital Complex.

With deep concern, they conveyed their apprehension on likelihood of being evicted from the building, she requested Rajkhowa for her personal intervention. They informed that eviction notice was issued to them in 2014, which they said was very disheartening and upsetting despite their yeomen service to the people of the State.

MWS donated some ration items and clothing materials for the destitute home.

Later, the team also visited the Government Women College, Lekhi which is adjacent to the Old Age Home.

Rajkhowa, also former Principal of Govt Girls’ Polytechnic, Guwahati interacted with Principal Aruna Gyati Lod and other faculty members of the college. She also saw the classrooms and abreast herself of the challenges of the only Women College of the State. She, however, appreciated the State Government for encouraging women education. Kaling Borang chosen for Lummer Dai Award

ITANAGAR, May 14: Multi-lingual writer-poet Kaling Borang has been chosen as the maiden awardee of luminous Lummer Dai Award, instituted by the Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) in memory of state’s living literary legend Lummer Dai.

The award to be conferred at a function here on June one next would include a citation, a memento and cash award of Rs 10,000.

It was unanimously decided at the 75th monthly sitting of APLS at State Jawaharlal Nehru Museum here today.

Tony Pertin, who become a member of the literary body and announced to donate land on behalf of his family at his native village Bolung to install the statue of global literary doyen Dr Bhupen Hazarika, was felicitated by APLS president Y D Thongchi.

The meeting lauded Chief Minister Kalikho Pul for his magnanimity to publicly announce to install more statues of Bhupenda to strengthen the age-old Assam-Arunachal bilateral relations for which he had announced fund. The APLS also made special mention of former chief minister Nabam Tuki for accepting the APLS plea to install Bhupenda’s statue and sanction fund.

The APLS also felicitated its assistant publicity secretary Une Pertin for cracking the APCS -2015 examination and 2003 Miss Arunachal Tenzin Metoh, presently serving as PHED state consultant, on becoming its member.

The APLS executive members including vice president Dr Takop Zirdo, general secretary and Research Director Batem Pertin & information & publicity secretary Pradeep Kumar after threadbare discussion decided to involve tourism and research departments to turn Bolung village into a tourism spot and pilgrimage for Bhupenda lovers. Batem Pertin, also advocated for establishment of museum on the contribution of Bhupen Hazarika neare the proposed statue to woo more tourists at Bolung village.

APLS editor R N Koley announced that his Bengali novel ‘Amlaki bane basanta’ (Spring heralds in Amlaki forest) is being retranslated to Adi language to earn the honor as first Adi novel to the thunderous applause of the gathering. Famous Assamese writer Aajanta was also greeted when she announced her latest book “Mahaniskraman”, a retranslation in Assamese.

The session concluded with usual recitation of self-composed poems and reading out of write-ups.

DDMA works out disaster preparedness

AALO, May 14: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Pige Ligu has asked all key stake holders of the district to be prepared well in advance in view of the onset of monsoon.

He said this during a District Disaster Management Authority and Advisory Board meeting which was held on May 13.

The DC also directed for District Control Room to be activated and coordination with police control room with constant liaisoning with military and para-military forces in the district. He also called for stocking essential commodities and medicines by the concerned department to meet up any unwanted situation.

DDMO Nima Dorjee highlighted the administrative preparedness being taken up by the district administration and department of Disaster Management Aalo and placed the preparedness plan and sought suggestions from each line department for better planning and cooperation in future. Informing that the district control room has been made operational round the clock, the DDMO urged all line departments to submit damage report through the quickest means of communication. He also added that apart from district Incident Response Teams (IRTs) there should be provision of special task force for various capacities to tackle any disaster. The Incident Response System (IRS) has been streamlined with the administrative set up of the district.

Chairperson West Siang Zilla Parishad, Yaman Bagra also expressed her gratitude for involving the PRIs in Disaster Management.

Yoga training held in VKAJ Roing

ROING, May 14: Ten days Yoga training was organised at Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti, Roing from May 4 to 14.

A total of 32 participants from 18 to 50 years attended the Yoga classes.

In the valedictory function on Saturday, Lower Dibang Valley DC Ravi Dhawan lauded the noble works of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti in organizing such event and also spoke on the benefits of yoga for one’s life.

A report on the yoga training was given by Nagar Sanchalak VKAJ Roing, Yashik Pertin, and an introduction on Vivekananda Kendra services in Arunachal Pradesh was given by Sampark Pramukh, VKAJ Roing, Bulia Pulu.

A participant, Dr. Nangkong Yirang shared his personal experience and benefits in attending the yoga camp. The classes were instructed by Nagar Sangthak, VKAJ Tezu, Ashok Atale.

Among others, VKV Arunachal Pradesh Trust, Trustee Jatan Pulu and member VKAJ Roing, Bishen Mepo also participated in the function.

The ten days Yoga class had breathing and loosening exercises including Suryanamaskar, Aasan, Kriyas, Pranyam.

AVP advance training camp

DAPORIJO, May 14: A 10 days state level advance training camp organized by Arunachal Vikash Parishad (AVP) for its workers began at GHSS, Ligu on May 13.

Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom attended the inaugural function and advised the participants to render their services for the betterment of the society. He asked them to create public awareness on various social evils prevailing in the society.

He also spoke on importance of good health and hygiene practices, promotion of communal harmony, protection of wildlife, forests and environment.

Other speakers also encouraged the participants to come forward and serve the society.

Altogether 95 participants from 10 districts are attending the camp.

Student’s beneficial website launched

ITANAGAR, May 14: As an initiative to reach out to the students of far flung areas in and outside the state, a website of the Multitech Computer Education was formally launched on Saturday by the Editor, Arunachal Front Pradeep Kumar amidst a huge gathering of students, their parents, faculties and others.

While introducing about the MCE, Centre Head, Pritam Bhattacharjee informed that the website is a small step initiated by the institution to reach out to the students residing in different districts of the state. Though there is a provision of counseling over phone but sometimes it becomes difficult to disseminate all information and in this regard the website will help them to get all information related to the institute, he added.

Editor Arunachal Front Pradeep Kumar while underscoring the importance of website for gaining education has urged the students to avail the opportunity. In this digital age, a website is a storehouse of information of an organization; he said adding it is an open platform for all the people who want to get information about an institution. He further appealed to the younger generation to avail technical knowledge along with their regular studies.

Steps to improve police-public relation

ZIRO, May 14: In its bid to improve the police-public relation, the Police Department and the Lower Subansiri district administration conducted an awareness programme at multipurpose community hall at Yazali on Saturday.

Addressing a gathering, SP Tage Habung reiterated the need for reinforcing the police and public relation for a crime free society.

ADC Yachuli, A C Boruah while deliberating on traffic rules and regulations advised the youths to be aware of traffic rules and always carry along the necessary vehicle documents. He also requested DTO (MV) to carry out regular checking and conduct awareness programmes for school children as well.

Dy SP Taba Techi, SFO Tage Lampung, CO Yazali, Likha Radh also spoke on various safety measures to be adopted during fire, earthquake and other disasters. All the speakers unanimously called for stopping deforestation and rampant earth cutting.

CM conducts public darbar

ITANAGAR, May 14: Chief Minister Kalikho Pul, who returned to the State capital late on Saturday after a whirlwind tour to Kanubari and Pasighat that began on Thursday night, was deeply moved to see the huge number of people, who were waiting outside his official residence to meet him during ‘Public Darbar’.

Considering that the people had come from far off places and were waiting for long, some of them since the morning, the Chief Minister went ahead and conducted the re-scheduled ‘Public Durbar’ from 3.30 pm onwards.

Despite rain, people patiently waited in queue to meet the CM and share their grievances. He met over 400 people and representations/ applications were swiftly addressed by the CM, assisted by the entire officials of the CM’s Secretariat.

95 cases settled in Lok Adalats

ITANAGAR, May 14: Lok Adalats for MACT, insurance, Money Suit cases were held in the courts of District & Sessions Judge, Yupia and various other courts in Basar, Bomdila, Khonsa, Yupia, Daporijo on Saturday.

Out of the 227 cases taken up, a total of 95 cases involving Rs. 36,84,316.00 were settled in the Lok Adalats, informed Arunachal Pradesh State legal Services Authority.

The court of Additional District & Sessions Judge, Basar settled highest number of 56 cases involving Rs 7,67,316 out of the total 104 (money suit case).

Eight cases involving Rs 29,10,000 were settled in the court of District & Sessions Judge, Yupia out of total 17 cases (MACT-16, Consumer-1). The numbers of cases settled in various other courts were Chief Judicial Magistrate, Seppa (6), Judicial Magistrate First Class, Khonsa (5), Judicial Magistrate First Class, Daporijo (9) and Judicial Magistrate First Class, Yupia (11).

The court of Additional District & Sessions Judge, Bomdila could not settle a single case out of the total 49 taken up.

Further, the Arunachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority visited the District Jail, Jully during the day to see the conditions of the jail inmates and also to assess the availability of legal aids to the large number of under trial prisoners (UTPs) in the Jail.

During the visit, the Legal Services Authority held an open meeting with the under-trial prisoners in the presence of District & Session Judge Yupia Budi Habung, SP (Prison) Nabam Gungte and others. The Authority decided to provide immediate legal aid to nearly 15 UTPs.

Union unhappy at police investigation

ITANAGAR, May 14: The All Tagin Students’ Union (ATSU) on Saturday expressed anguish at the slow pace of police investigation into the murder case of Kali Bulo who was an assistant teacher at government higher secondary school, Mechuka. It is believed that late Kali Bulo was brutally murdered at his official quarter in Mechuka on August 3 last year.

ATSU claimed that no accused has been arrest or booked in connection to the murder case so far. The union also stated that despite the CCTV footage as evidence to crime, the police department is yet to make any breakthrough in the case.

Expressing displeasure over the pace of investigation, ATSU said that police special investigation team (SIT) has failed to crack the case. It urged the Parliamentary Secretary Home to expedite the investigation so that perpetrator is booked and punished as per law.

Inmates of OWA given aerobics class

ITANAGAR, May 14: Arunachal Women Helpline (WHL) in collaboration with Arunachal Art Academy conducted aerobics, contemporary and mimicry classes for the children and women victims sheltered at Oju Welfare Association (OWA)

Instructor Sanjay Roy from of Arunachal Art Academy demonstrated different types of aerobics and steps to the participants from basic level. He also informed them about the health benefits of such exercises.

Aerobics can not only reduces health risks but also improves psychological and physical functioning and boost the confidence of victims, said OWA Chairperson Ratan Anya.

Fitness programmes, such as aerobics and dance not only unlock their creative thinking but also influences major system of their bodies, said another instructor from Arunachal Art Academy Rajesh Pabin.

Besides aerobics different forms of dances were also taught to the victims.

Training on tailoring and weaving commence

NAMPONG, May 14: A 90 days tailoring and weaving training programme sanctioned under BADP commenced at Govt Craft Training Centre on Saturday.

Attending the inaugural function of the training, MLA Laisam Simai expressed hope that the training programme will help to hone the livelihood skills of the women beneficiaries in a huge way.

Emphasising on dignity of labour, MLA Simai asked the new generation not to be ashamed of doing work whether small or big. He also advised the elders to take care of the young generation that are lost to social ills like drugs and alcohol abuse, and emphasised on engaging them instead of keeping them idle.

Jairampur ADC, Kento Riba advised the trainees to utilize the opportunity. The ADC also announced cash award and certificate for those who top the 90 days training.

The training programme is aims to benefit more than 100 youths from the four circles of Manmao, Jairampur, Rima-Putok and Nampong.

NGO takes initiative to encourage horticultural activities

ITANAGAR, May 14: To encourage horticultural activities among the villagers, R K Mossang Memorial Society planted various fruit bearing trees and commercially important plants from its own resources in the fields a farmer at New Khamdu village.

The staff of the NGO and members of the family planted varieties of such plants, like banana, rubber, orange, pears, lemon, white chandan, black paper, bay leaf and litchi.

BJP complains against absentee officials

ITANAGAR, May 14: In a representation to the Chief Secretary, the 20the Tali Mandal Unit of BJP under Kra Daadi district on Saturday sought action against irregular staff of Tali circle. The BJP Mandal unit claimed that no staff is present at Tali circle headquarter. Drawing the attention of the CS to other sectors such as health, communication and electricity, it informed that though the circle headquarter has a Primary Health Center(PHC) but there are no medical staff such as doctor, nurse and other supporting staff. It also requested the CS to look into shortage of items under public distribution system (PDS) and direct the PWD for maintenance of Tali road.

Lohit admin. on social media

ITANAGAR, May 14: Lohit district has created a Facebook page for the district named "District Administration Lohit" and Twitter handle - @lohitadmn which will be a platform for Digital India Campaign in the district. The official page will carry daily updates on the district.

DC Lohit, Danish Ashraf has appealed all the citizens of Lohit district to use these social media platforms wisely and post genuine grievances or district related information.

He has requested youths to make optimum use of the pages to know about local administration and its activities.

Genuine grievances will be taken into consideration and all possible necessary action will be taken up by the administration to redress it, said an official release.

MIS for Anganwadi workers

ITANAGAR, May 14: A five-day Management Information System (MIS) for all the Anganwadi Workers of Chambang was conducted by ICDS Project, Chambang at two different locations of Gangte-Tarak Lengdi and Chambang Circles which concluded on May 12 last.

Attending as resource person, Deputy Director ICDS District level cell Ziro, J J Singh encouraged the Anganwadi workers to do their duties sincerely and cautioned that there will be no compromise for insincerity.

Another resource person, Headmaster Govt M E School, Gangte, Song Tallam talked about teaching method in pre-primary.

Earlier, CDPO Chambang Habung Yase emphasizing on the importance of the programme urged upon all the Anganwadi workers to shoulder their responsibilities well.

Ultimatum served to BSNL GM

ITANAGAR, May 14: The All Kurung Kumey District Students’ Union has served five days ultimatum to the BSNL general manager asking reason for the bad service in Kurung Kumey district.

In its complaint letter, it expressed annoyance that their earlier representation to them for improving the service have yielded no result.
